Simpsons Crystal T50 is a premium British crystal malt that imparts a brilliant red hue and a clean, sweet caramel-toffee flavor to the beer. Kilned to approximately 50-55° Lovibond, it provides enhanced body and foam stability while contributing a distinct "malty" complexity without the burnt character of darker roasted grains. It is the essential specialty grain for English Bitters, Pale Ales, and Red Ales, helping to balance hop bitterness with a smooth, lingering sweetness.

Brewery Mash Tip: Use Crystal T50 at 5-15% of the total grist for color and flavor depth. Because the sugars are already caramelized inside the kernel, this malt does not require mashing for sugar conversion (it can be steeped for extract batches), but including it in the main mash provides the best integration of color and body. It pairs exceptionally well with East Kent Golding or Fuggles hops.
