This fine micro-mesh filter sits at the top of the overflow pipe, preventing grain particles and hop debris from entering the pump and recirculating into the wort during the mash. Maintaining a clean and functional overflow filter is essential for achieving high wort clarity and protecting the pump from clogs and burnout.
Maintenance Tip: If you notice a "stuck mash" or slow recirculation, check the overflow filter for grain buildup. Rinse the filter thoroughly with warm water after every brew day. Avoid using abrasive brushes on the micro-mesh to prevent tearing; a simple soak in PBW followed by a spray-down is sufficient for sanitation.
