Product Overview

Enhance your beer's natural carbonation with our high-quality Corn Sugar. Commonly referred to as dextrose, it's the ideal choice for "priming" your beer before bottling. By priming, we're talking about the crucial step of adding a dash of fermentable sugar. This lets the remaining yeast produce the perfect amount of carbonation once sealed. What sets our corn sugar apart? Its neutral taste, ensuring your beer retains its crafted flavor.

Instructions:

  • For a 5-gallon batch, use 4 or 5 oz of corn sugar.
  • Sanitize by dissolving in 1-1.5 pints of water and boiling for 5 minutes.
  • Mix it well with your beer before bottling.

Insights on CO2 Levels:

  • At a 68°F fermentation end, expect around 1 volume of CO2.
  • At 50°F, it's about 1.2 volumes of CO2.
  • Using 4 oz in 5 gallons yields 1.48 Volumes of CO2.
  • 5 oz provides 1.84 volumes of CO2 for 5 Gallons.

CO2 Levels Guide:

  • Cask Ales: 1.5 to 2.0
  • Ales: 2.3 to 2.6
  • Lagers: 2.4 to 2.6
  • Highly Carbonated Beers: 3.0+
  • For a Champagne-like effect (6.3 volumes), a special bottle is needed.

Conversion Tip: To get g/L from volumes: Multiply volumes by 1.96.

Bonus: Want to tweak your Original Gravity? Our corn sugar is perfect. It adjusts the gravity by 1.042 PPG without altering taste. For precision: Dextros Needed (lbs.) = (Actual Volume x (Target Gravity – Actual Gravity)) / 0.042.
