Frequently asked questions
What is the temperature range and max temperature?
The digital controller is adjustable 32-212 F and holds to within plus or minus 5 F.
Can it be used to bottle maple syrup?
Yes, it holds the 185-190 F bottling range. It cannot boil sap down to syrup, which needs about 219 F.
Can I use it as a source of hot or boiling water?
Yes. It heats and holds water to a boil and dispenses through the 1/2" stainless ball valve.
Will it scorch grain when gelatinizing corn?
The concealed elements reduce scorching; stir thick mashes. It is lower-risk than an exposed-element kettle.
Does it have an internal strainer or basket?
No internal basket is included; a compatible mesh basket is sold separately.
How long does it take to bring 9 gallons to a boil?
Roughly 1.5-2 hours from room temperature on the 1500 W elements, then your recipe's boil time on top.
Can I use it as a fermenter and hold around 65 F?
It can hold a set temperature but it only heats (no cooling) and isn't insulated, so holding 65 F depends on a cool, stable room.
Can it melt soy wax?
Yes. The same unit is sold as our Pow'r Pot Wax Melter and suits soy and melt-and-pour wax.
