Speidel was the original manufacturer of the bladder press. While similar to the Italian models in operation, Speidel offers a few quality upgrades. To obtain a better press Speidel uses a slotted screen, similar to what is offered on large commercial presses, instead of a screen with circular perforations. Speidel presses also offer superior hardware and a recessed valve assembly (to reduce accidental breakage). Insert bag and outer splash guard included.

Speidel has been shifting their bladder presses from painted to all stainless, and we're pretty excited about it. Although the orange painted versions have their own aesthetic appeal, nothing beats the performance and practicality of stainless steel. Stainless is much easier to clean and much more resistant to rust. The painted versions are likely to chip over time through normal wear and tear, creating small crevasses for bacteria to call home. No such worries when working this beautiful, brushed stainless press.

Frequently asked questions

Does the press need electricity?

No. Speidel says it needs neither muscle power nor an electric motor: connect a garden hose to the normal domestic water supply and turn the tap on.

Do I have to crush or mill the fruit first?

Yes. Speidel's manual says the press is designed for pitted and ground or crushed fruit, such as grapes, apples or pears.

What happens if my water pressure is higher than 3 bar?

The press is limited to 3 bar. Speidel's manual says the relief valve opens automatically once water pressure reaches 3 bar and the water discharges below.

Can I run it with compressed air instead of water?

No. Speidel says never to operate the press with compressed air: if the diaphragm is damaged, air pressure can release explosively and cause serious injury.

How do I clean and store it?

Clean it with water and a brush, sponge or cloth; never use a wire brush or other abrasive tools. The press bag can be machine washed at up to 30°C. Store the press in a dark room out of sunlight to protect the diaphragm.
