Which Lancer dispenser type?
Countertop (CED / CCD) units are self-contained and sit on the counter — best for lower-volume bars and kitchens. Drop-in dispensers mount flush into a prep or service counter. Ice + beverage combos (IBD / FS) make ice and pour soda from one machine. Towers dispense from remote-chilled lines. Every post-mix unit needs syrup (bag-in-box), CO2, and a carbonator to pour finished soda.
How many valves (flavors) do you need?
Match valve count to your menu and traffic — size for your busiest day, not the average.
| Venue | Typical valves | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Café / small bar | 4–6 | Countertop CED |
| Restaurant / QSR | 8 | Drop-in or combo |
| C-store self-serve | 8–12+ | Ice + beverage combo |
| Stadium / concession | 10–32 brands | FS Flavor Select, high-flow |

Self-contained vs remote / cold-carb
Self-contained / ice-cooled units cool the product on board — the simplest install. Remote or cold-carb setups pair with a line chiller to cool product runs over distance, for long lines and high draw. If you're feeding a tower or a bank of valves far from the back room, you're looking at a remote chiller.
Complete the fountain & keep it pouring
A Lancer fountain needs a carbonator with a Procon pump, a CO2 regulator and tank, bag-in-box syrup, and an ASSE-1022 backflow preventer on the water line. Need a worn part? Shop 990+ Lancer OEM replacement parts by part number — or find it on a diagram below.

Lancer dispenser FAQs
Post-mix dispensers (most Lancer equipment) combine syrup concentrate, plain water, and CO2 at the valve to pour finished soda — cheaper per ounce and standard for high-volume foodservice. They require a syrup (bag-in-box) supply, CO2, and a carbonator. Pre-mix pours already-finished soda from a tank.
Drop-in units mount flush into a prep/island counter; countertop electric (CED/CCD) units are self-contained and sit on the counter; ice + beverage combos (IBD/FS) include an ice maker on top so one unit pours soda and dispenses ice. Choose by counter space and whether you need on-board ice.
A dispenser, a carbonator with a Procon pump, a CO2 regulator and tank, bag-in-box syrup, water and drain plumbing, and an ASSE-1022 backflow preventer on the incoming water. We can spec the full bill of materials — contact our team.
Yes — most plumbing codes require an ASSE-1022 dual-check backflow preventer on the water line feeding a carbonator, to keep CO2 and carbonated water out of the building supply.
